What’s up? What’s up? What’s up everybody? Welcome back to THE a.m welcome back to five minute rants. I’m your host, Michael Abernathy. Welcome to the show predicated on the journey of life and business. Hey guys, real quick if you know somebody whose life would be better by listening to this show, would you share it with them? Some people that would be a good fit really are somebody who is trying to start their own business or in business, maybe furthering their career.

Anyways, well, guys, last week, I really talked about building and some practicals. And building within the company, and building a company, I’m actually going to continue kind of on that trail, I brought up marketing versus branding. And I was actually thinking about talking about that. But I actually want to go back to that previous topic, I want to talk more about the mindset you need to have to build. And so I talked about the three types of work before and I’m gonna list them again, you have technical, you have managerial and entrepreneurial within the business, you have those three types of work present at all times, and all three of them need to be done in order to run a successful company.

The thing about all three of those types of work is this, you’re one person. So every time you switch to one of those, something’s been neglected, right. So if I need to do production work, well, some things need is being neglected, right? So managerial processes like right now, like, I’m making a podcast making a show What is being neglected from number three, this is where the team comes into play. Because most people have problems building out teams, they have problems delegating they have problems, letting go of their work, most most people attach their worth to the work. And as a result, have a hard time letting go. Like, we really want to be the smart people, we really want to be the superheroes, we want to be the people who everybody comes to to fix the problem. It’s nice, it feels good. However, that is not conducive to building a team. It’s not conducive to having a team, right, it’s actually the opposite.

In order to really have a healthy team, you have to have a mindset of servitude, and then you have to have a hard position of humility. And it looks very much like this. My job now is to serve the people working for me right? To serve my team. My job is a place of just facilitating I’m a doorway for them, to have purpose to have meaningful work a doorway for them to provide for their families for their dreams to fund their dreams. And then the humility is is looking at them being like, Oh, they could actually be better at this than I am. And it’s really true. I am not the best developer in the company. As a matter of fact, I’m the worst. And we in the marketing company, right? I’m the worst at really writing and all this other stuff that we do. I’m the worst at social media.

And if you think about that, that’s the humility going, Oh, let me make these people better than I am. Most of us in business. We are not constantly thinking, let me make people better than I am. But I really believe investing in people is the way to go. It’s slower upfront, but at the same time, you’re investing in life change. And if it’s all about money, what’s the whole point? Cool, you made a bunch of money? What’s the whole point? And this is the same thing in business? Or even if you’re picking a job or profession, great, you made a bunch of money. What’s the point, right now if you need to get to a place where all your bills are paid, and you actually have surplus like that, that’s a place that you have to focus on and be healthy with first. But then if you’re in a position where it’s like, oh, I’m making a ton of money, it’s like, what’s the point of that? Money isn’t winning Right? Money is not winning at life, you can have tons of money and be miserable, you can have no money and be happy.

And it’s interesting, you look at a lot of the studies for psychological health and happiness. And a lot of countries and a lot of places where there’s less materialism, the people are massively more proportionately happy than where there is a lot of materialism. Think about that. So I’m saying all of this, because if you are really going to build something, you are going to need to have a team along the way. It may be a massive team, it may be a small team, it depends on What you’re trying to build. The point is this though, if you’re building a team, your heart position has to be to serve to give them and equip them with everything and every resource you have available to you and to them, to provide them with the best resources that are available to you at the time, right? And then let them do the work because they’re going to be way better at it than you are right?

They’re going to be more highly educated in the field than you are. Right. And so you think about that. And it’s like that’s a healthy place to be because now you have amazing people who have partnered with you to do the work. And your job now is to leave your job now is to facilitate vision. Your job now is to facilitate culture, and just create a place where they can be the best people that they can possibly be. And that’s the goal. That is the goal. And that is how you delegate because now you have trust between you and the team to delegate because you believe in them and know that they’ll do good work.

Anyways, I’m out of time guys. I’ll catch you later. Peace.
