What’s up everybody? Welcome back to THE a.m guys. Welcome back to five minute rants.

So today I want to talk about serving, and I want to talk about how you really actually begin serving people and serving, first off, before I get into the nitty gritty, serving really starts with having a heart position of selflessness. If you’re going to serve and you’re going to serve people, you’re going to serve the people around you, your friends, if you’re leading people, if you’re in a position to where you’re under authority, whatever it is and you want to serve, it really starts in a hard position of selflessness. And most people think serving is like, oh, yeah, cool. Let me go do this for you. Let me go do that for you. And it’s not.

The definition of serving is where you put yourself second and do what is best for other people. So an example of serving would simply be, hey, you have a real conversation with your friend when you know they’re screwing up, and you tell them, Hey, man, this isn’t cool. That’s serving. It doesn’t come across as serving. It doesn’t even come across as Welcomed sometime, right? But that’s really serving them. And the way that you serve, if you really want to start serving people and you really want to progress in life, because this is how you move forward.

This is how all businesses work, right? Most entrepreneurs are like, Hey, you want to start a business solve a problem. It’s not so much that people want problems to be solved, but they want to be served. And we find, honestly, I think, that we find as people. We find ourselves happiest when we are serving and when we have something bigger than ourselves and we’re letting go. We become miserable, the more selfish we become, and we become happier, the more selfless we become. That’s been my experience in the journey of life.

And so if you want to start serving, one of the easiest ways to do it is put yourself in their shoes. So you’re leading a team of people, awesome. If you were under your leadership, what would you want from yourself? What would you want? How would you want life to look? How would you want the team to look? Why would you want it to look that way? And then you begin doing that. It’s the same thing in a relationship. You’re in a relationship, what do you want out of the relationship? The seeds you sow are the seeds that you reap. Whatever you do, you’re going to reap. So you want things out of a relationship awesome, then start doing that. Put yourself in their shoes, and take a step back and take time to actually, really legitimately reflect most of the time when people are talking, we just can’t wait for them to shut up so we can say our peace that’s not serving. Serving is actually sitting there listening, trying to understand where they’re coming from, and then being able to listen and have a conversation with them, not respond to whatever they’re saying.

And oftentimes your ability to serve goes hand in hand with your ability to listen. And so it’s really all about letting go of what you want, how you want to be seen, how you want to say things, and then putting them first. And when you do that, you’ll watch life around you change. All your relationship will change. You got toxic relationships. Those will end because toxic people and toxic relationships don’t want to be served, right? You will find that your relationships will get better. If you’re in business, you’ll find that client relationships get better. If you’re leading people, you’ll find that the team starts excelling, right?

They’re not just there for just a simple paycheck. They’re not just there because they are like, cool. This is the love of my life. Most people have dreams outside of it. We just interviewed a guy and to come on and to come on to the team. And one thing he’s saying is, like, I’ve worked a lot of high positions. I don’t want the stress. I really want to be happy in life, and I don’t want to come home miserable to my family. Think about that. He He is very heavily credentialed in what we’re looking for in the position. He doesn’t want the stress. He’s actually it’s so funny, because he actually came in for a lower position, and the reason why than what he’s qualified for, is because he doesn’t want the stress. He doesn’t want to be miserable with his family.

Now think about that. You’re leading people like this. People are partnering with you out of this place of cool. Here’s what I want in life. It’s not money. Yes, money is great, but let me tell you something. Go to the third world country, see how happy the people are. If you’re in the states, if you’re in Europe, go somewhere where there’s much greater disparity between you, and then where these people live in terms of wealth, and you’ll find that they’re a lot happier. And the reason why is because money is not what makes you happy.

Money makes things easier, right? And so oftentimes, when money is there, it helps relieve some of the stress, so there is more joy, but it’s not the end all be all. I tell you what people matter more than money. And if you can figure that out pretty quick, you’ll be pretty successful in life no matter what you do, that the people matter and are more. Important than money and more important than numbers.

Anyways, guys, I’m over so I catch you later. Peace.
