Hey what’s up everybody? What’s up? What’s up? What’s up? Welcome back to THE a.m. Welcome back to 5 Minute Rants. I’m your host, Michael Abernathy, and welcome back to the show where we talk about anything and everything predicated on the journey of life and business.

So a few things. Today, I want to really talk about creation versus AI, and here’s why. Because a lot of stuff has come out recently about AI, and I think this is important. It’s not technically new to me or some of some of our team members that we work with. We’ve used it for a while personally, in a lot of executional work, it’s great. Here’s the thing, though, change is coming. It’s already really here. It’s at the doorstep, and so now the question is, what are you going to do about it?

And the reason why I bring up creation is this, the work is moving away from technical, and I’ve talked about this before, how the technical work, is really what AI is going to replace, and that’s really true. So the other thing too, is I don’t think this is a 30 year deal. I don’t think this is a 10 year deal. I think within the next five years, it’s going to be radically, radically, shaping how we do work and shaping our culture.

And so here’s the thing, if you’re in an industry that’s affected by AI, you really need to begin making moves and making steps to either utilize it, adapt with it, or go ahead and begin making those moves. Not to protect your work, protection of your work, protection of your job is not what we’re talking about. That’s the wrong move. That’s actually how you get replaced. Because you’re no longer adapting. Bruce Lee said that a man must be like water, he must be fluid and being able to fill any situation, and I really think that’s really true with business in general. And so with you working, with business, at your employment or job, it’s not so much, just simply about protecting your work, it’s really having that ability to adapt and change. And the creation really comes into it, because you’ve got to be creative, to really see where you need to go with your moves. And then also, I think creativity and ideation is going to become more valuable and is really what is going to begin driving the work moving forward with AI.

So for instance, like the people in, you know, in our company, and who run a lot of the tool sets that involve AI, their main job is ideation. And then their main job is oversight of the AI. Of the actual tool set. And that’s where we’re at, and y’all I apologize. I’m really hoarse, just been getting over the crud, and so apologize for all the raspiness. But anyways, the point of what I’m trying to say, with AI is this, the wrong move, I believe in this case is to protect your work, and more of the right move is to adapt and change, and it just like what happened with social, it’s just like what happened with SEO, it’s just like what happened with the internet, it’s just like what happened with phone and mobile. Right? They took over.

Mobile is the primary way that people find businesses, it’s not desktops and laptops or anything like that, it used to be, but then it shifted and changed. And the way we as people culturally use technology to interact and to connect with people has changed over time as well. And it’s going to be the same thing with AI. So, and there’s a race right now, even with Google and Bing, and you talk about that with incorporating AI into their searches and into how they’re doing things, and everything is changing.

So, with that being said, AI is here, it’s not something that’s coming, that’s the wrong mindset to have as well, is that it’s “something that’s going to come.” No, AI is here, and now the question is, what are you going to do to really adapt with it, to change and to grow? And so this is one of those moments where we can either do it now, or we’ll find that our work is removed, our work is replaced, and that, you know, our jobs at that point are removed out of society the way they used to be done. I mean, it’s the same way with farming. It’s the same way we don’t plow anymore with horses. Horses were replaced with technology. We don’t manually put together everything down in the Ford factory. Like manually screwing, and drilling, and riveting cars together, and welding them. Machines do that. The same thing with Toyota and the robots, all those things came. And yes, there is a loss of jobs. There’s also creation of jobs. And I’m not talking about the danger of AI whether AI is going to kill us all in the future, which is a possibility. It might come down that road, but that’s not what we’re discussing right now. What I’m discussing right now are the moves and the steps that need to be considered if you’re in an industry that’s going to be impacted by AI.

Well, that’s it guys. Just something to think about and I’ll catch y’all later. Peace!
