What’s up guys, welcome back to THE a.m.
So guys, last episode, I talked about how to do it faster, really reflecting that question, how do we get there faster? And I brought up capable versus possible, and oftentimes we mistake the two, and we interchange the two wrongly, and as a result, it caps us right.
Possibility, if you believe something ‘s impossible, you automatically cap your capabilities. If you have a belief set that it is not possible, whatever you’re about to attempt it is not possible. You automatically cap your capabilities, because your capabilities are totally defined and are totally leveled off by what you believe is impossible. So let me give you an example.
We were doing work for a client, and we were working on light speed and it the CEO is Brad Lee, and we were working for a client that was using that platform. Well, we built a feature in that platform, and we got on the phone with him, and he was saying, Oh, my text dev said that this was impossible. Well, we did what he was told was impossible, because we believe that it’s possible, everything’s possible. And so as a result, we ended up being capable of performing and doing that for him, and that was that.
So we’ve been told that a lot, we’ve had a lot of clients and customers come to us and be like, cool. We’ve been told we can’t do this. That’s not really how life works. If you believe you cannot do something, guess what’s going to happen? You can’t do it. And oftentimes we believe possibility is defined by our capability, and it’s actually the other way. Possibility is a ceiling to your capability, okay? Possibility, what you believe is possible, will automatically cap what you are capable of. And I am just reiterating this ad nauseum, because if you don’t think that you can do it, of course, that’s what’s going to happen. Whatever you believe for is going to happen, right? Whatever you believe for is what is going to happen to you.
I think especially in business, that’s why you see a lot of people who believe that things are possible. You see them become very successful, and you see them do a great and amazing things. It’s the same thing in any thing that is hard, whether it’s sports, the Olympics, whatever it is, you believe that it’s not possible, that’s what you’re going to have. And I think it’s very interesting, because often times we grow up in meshing those two words, capability, capability versus possibility.
We had a another client one time. A long time ago, they were asking us to do something that they’ve gone through four people to do four four different people offered same services that we do. Okay, and if you notice I’m not really getting into the technical of what we do as a company, because I don’t think that matters. I think what matters more is the principle that I’m trying to teach and get across. So anyways, back to that. They’ve gone through four of the people to build something out for them. We came back and said, Oh yeah, this is how we would do it. This is exactly what needs to happen. And it blew them away with how simple it was, but also that they were not wrong. Because, like, I know this is possible, I just gotta find somebody to do it.
And the thing is, is if you are aligned with people who don’t think everything is possible, and they don’t believe the same way, you’re going to be kept by people Andrew and I talk about this a lot. It is so important for us to instill within our team we can do anything. We can absolutely do anything we want to. We shouldn’t do everything, though. We should only do the things that matter and actually add to our life and actually build things the way that they need to be built. Excuse me, only do things that matter and that we should build things that matter for our life, and how things should be built, and that’s what we want to instill in the team.
And it’s interesting because we talk about this a lot, because if our team gets on that same page, what do you think we’re going to do once we have like, 500 people believing the same thing, 1000 people think about that. You’re now surrounded with a massive group of people who believe that anything is possible. What do you think is going to happen?
I think this is one reason why Elon Musk just talking about how he’s driven a lot of culture, right, how he believes things are possible, and then he finds people who also believe that he’s got to have capable people. But again, your capability is going to be capped. You’re going to be limited in your solutions. You’re going to be limited in your creativity, because you don’t think it’s possible. And everybody ‘s got some some version of this in them somewhere, like I did when we first started cool, I know we can do this. Is it going to be possible? And that’s often times why people ‘s lives do not change. Until they prove that belief set in them wrong and they have evidence that says otherwise.
So anyways, guys, I’ll catch you later. Peace.
