Hey what’s up, everybody? Welcome back to THE a.m guys, welcome to Five Minute rants. I’m your host, Michael Abernathy. And welcome to the show predicated on the journey of business and life.

Well, everybody, Today, I want to talk about finding your purpose. And this kind of translates into finding more of who you are. And finding and knowing your purpose is really important. And here is why all of your work comes from it, understanding your abilities, your giftings, your skill sets, all of those things come from it, right. And so purpose isn’t just oh, I’m going to show up and go to the job and make money. That’s What most people default to their purpose, as I’m going to show up to a nine to five, I’m going to work, I’m going to get married, I’m going to have house, maybe have kids maybe not get married, maybe just buy a house and have a dog. And that’s as good as it gets in their lives. And I want to talk about this because I actually think it’s a systemic problem with our society that we actually don’t dig deeper to have a purpose or a greater good outside of just our day to day routines.

And one of the reasons why we don’t have a purpose, or why it’s hard to find a purpose is because it takes work. And it’s not something that you’re just going to be able to do and sit down. If you haven’t put any thought or effort into it, it’s not just something that’s going to naturally come to you, you know, over like 15 seconds of just thinking about like, oh, yeah, this is my purpose. And to really understand why you were created, why you were made. And it takes work. And it’s going to take a lot of self discovery. And normally along the journey of finding purpose, you find out who you are. And so things that happen naturally, when you find your purpose, you understand who you are, you’ll understand your abilities. And then you’ll actually find the work that you need to be doing. And your purpose doesn’t have to be this grandiose thing, right? Your purpose doesn’t have to be like this massive, I’m going to become the next president and I’m going to change the world. And I’m going to end world hunger, it doesn’t have to be that your purpose could simply be if you’re guy and your family man, the best dad who’s ever lived on Earth, and this is What that looks like.

Your purpose could be, could be something greater than then, then I mean, excuse me, your purpose is something greater than just showing up to your work. And so another example of a purpose is simply like, you know, What I’m going to give back to the community, my purpose in life is to help in support and serve the community I want to go coach Little League baseball, or football, I’m going to go coach Rec and pour into kids lives. My purpose is geared towards the next generation, right? Or my purpose is to help other other guys. And there’s a lot of guys in my neighborhood that I know are single, whatever let me put together a group to where we get together, we hang out, we talk. And there’s more to it than that. And I really believe one of my purposes, is to really serve people. And to go first, like, for whatever reason, a lot that has happened in my life, I often go first in a lot of areas and a lot of ways and a lot of things within my friends group. Within work within business, I normally find myself at the front lines going first. And then as a result, it opens up doors for people next to me and beside me to walk through. And I really believe it’s important as people to know where you are at. Because from there, it’s like cool, What are your abilities and your abilities attached to your purpose. And so What you’re gifted in where your skill sets lie, where you love and are passionate about working all that ties into your purpose. And so going back to going back to the community giver, somebody who wants to stitch the community to be better together, and things like that.

There’s probably giftings of connection giftings of network, there’s probably giftings of just people in relationships that way that come naturally and easily. Right. So I think that in order to really have a fruitful life, and one of the most profound things you can do is find that greater good and find that purpose that drives you forward. And then everything else stems from it. Everything Everything you’re doing really stems from that goal. And that vision, that purpose. I mean, if you think about driving a car, every time you get in a car, you have a destination, a purpose, you get in the car, you shut the door, you turn it on, and then you leave the driveway or leave your parking spot and now you have a very direct purpose, with high intentions of getting there safely. And that’s how all of life works. If you have deep purpose driving you, everything you do is going to line up with that. And then you’ll move forward into the direction of life that you want to go.

Here’s the other thing. If you really have purpose driving you, you will find fulfillment in What you’re doing even in the painful things or the things that are just stepping stones are frustrating to deal with in the moment. The purpose behind that really drives but Here’s a warning don’t let other people pick your purpose for you. It’s easy to just follow along somebody who has found purpose and not really work toward your own.

Anyways guys, I’m out of time so I’ll catch you on the flip side peace
