Hey what’s up? What’s up? What’s up, everybody? Welcome back to THE a.m guys. Welcome back to five minute rants. I’m your host, Michael Abernathy. And welcome back to the show predicated on the journey of life and business.

Well, guys, today, I want to talk about teams. And I want to talk about teamwork. It’s really interesting in life, how everything really honestly revolves around teams and teamwork, no matter who you are, and no matter where you’re at in life, everything really revolves around that team. Now, I’m not talking about not being a producer, or not working or being disciplined to do your own work. But it’s very interesting to see that the people in your life and how you interact and connect with them, they form your team, they form your group, they form like the core relationships in your life, for a lot of how things need to move forward, whether that’s in business, whether that’s your friendships, and they also, the people in your life really also determine a lot of outcomes in your life as well, because they do influence you.

There’s a proverb that says don’t be deceived, bad company will corrupt good character. And that really is talking about how the influence people have in our lives, is either going to affect us positively or negatively. And it’s either going to push us forward in life, or it’s going to continue to detract and take us backwards in life. So Here’s something that I want to talk about very specifically for teams. Teamwork within a company, okay. So first, if you’re in a company, I think it’s very important to have the mindset of that you are replaceable, because if you believe that you’re not replaceable, true teamwork cannot occur. Right? There’s no partnership. And so like Andrew and I talk about this all the time, we talk about like, man, like I am replaceable, like, Yes, Michael Abernethy as a person is very unique. I have my own set of skills and all these things. But the work that I do, somebody else can do, somebody else can be taught how to do it, somebody else can learn how to do What I’m doing, right. And so What matters is not so much the work I’m doing, but the heart position, I have to actually help facilitate teamwork, and how to stay with the team and how to actually give value. That’s What makes me sticky, not my ability to make decisions or execute on tasks. What makes me sticky, is the value I bring outside of those things, skills are replaceable, people are not. And if you treat yourself as irreplaceable, because of your skill set, you’re essentially saying me as a person I’m unreplaceable. And I can’t be and then you’re aligning yourself with a skill set that can be replaced. If that makes any sense, I hope it does.

Because I think there’s a lot in society. And I’m not saying replaceable in a negative sense, I’m saying that you as a person, the things you know, are ever changing and should grow. And if you don’t, that the skill is replaceable. We’re watching that happen in AI right now, it’s not so much that people are being replaced. It’s the skills that people have that are being replaced. And so if you as a person, align yourself saying I’m valuable because of my skills, and because of my skill set versus I provide value in so many different facets, it means that you’re going to be replaced, right? Like, for instance, one of the things that I’m sticky with and that I believe that I’m sticking with as a person is like I’m willing to grow, I’m willing to learn, I’m willing to change and be wrong. And then that adds a whole nother set of value to everybody within my circle. Right? And I’m saying this because if you look at work, the way you look at friendships, What value do you bring? How do you help? How do you support, that’s really how the culture inside the company should be. And if you’re building culture, that’s What you want to facilitate the culture to be like, you want to facilitate culture to really where it really everybody is adding to the team and giving value outside the skill sets.

Skill sets are not teamwork. Being able to dribble the ball in basketball is not teamwork, that’s a skill. your ball handling skills are literally a skill. It’s not Teamwork. Teamwork is something so much radical, being able to read the room. It includes soft skills, it includes the ability to negotiate conflict, and conflict resolution. It includes the ability to run with the ball, it includes the ability to read the room, it includes the ability that is so much further beyond than just a skill set. And so I’m saying this because it’s just so important to keep all of this in mind. That skills are replaceable people aren’t but if you as a person, demote yourself to just a skill set or if you’re a boss and you only see people as skill sets, well, you’re losing Now on so much more that you don’t even know yet.

Anyways guys, I’m out of time so I’ll catch you on the flip side peace
